Artist’s Statement

I first visited Japan and observed their extraordinary
talent in hand-crafting paper.
Their intricate workmanship resulted in
textures and colors that were both breathtaking and inspirational. Upon my return to Canada, I began experimenting with

these papers and creating collages.
Over time, I found I was working more and more in this medium. The collages are abstract images that marry
the culture of Japan with the sensibility of the west
to produce a synergistic piece of work that maintains the integrity of both cultures.
